Fields Commitment

It is hard to believe we could have thrilling back-to-back finishes at our Fields Open in Hawaii tournaments in our inaugural and 2nd years. We also feel blessed to have had such outstanding fields in both years including such superstars as Lorena Ochoa, Juli Inkster, Ai Miyazato, Paula Creamer, and Morgan Pressel, just to name a few. It is therefore, with great pleasure and anticipation; I welcome you to our 3rd Fields Open in Hawaii. The Fields Group is pleased to partner with the LPGA Tour as title sponsor of this tournament and trust 2008 will provide yet another fantastic tournament.

Our inaugural tournament in 2006, was especially memorable with Meena Lee defeating Seon Hwa Lee in a thrilling play-off. The 2007 tournament witnessed Stacy Prammanasudh capture her first-ever LPGA win in dramatic fashion, edging out Jee Young Lee, with Ai Miyazato creating huge anticipation as a gallery of hundreds watched her steadily move up the leader board to finish 3rd place, her career best on the LPGA Tour. With live daily broadcast in the United States, as well as broadcast via satellite in Japan, huge television audiences were also able to experience the excitement of our tournament. I am sure Fields Open in Hawaii 2008 will prove just as exhilarating and golf fans everywhere will be able to watch top women golfers at their best.

In line with our corporate philosophy, providing ‘The Greatest Leisure for All People’, Fields Group is dedicated to producing state-of-the-art contents across a vast range of entertainment ventures. We believe that sport, as a universal language, serves as an ideal communications medium that offers dreams and inspiration to all people. We are therefore honored to host an LPGA Tour event which combines power, elegance, beauty and entertainment.

We are proud to welcome many of the world’s finest players representing over 15 countries to this magnificent Ko Olina Golf Course. Fields Corporation would like to thank the Golf Course and Ko Olina Resort Operators Association for once again being Host Venue to Fields Open in Hawaii 2008.

To the people of Hawaii and specifically Honolulu, thank you for your heartfelt hospitality and genuine friendliness you have shown Japanese visitors over the many, many years. I believe there is a natural connection between the two peoples of Hawaii and Japan and I am proud to be a part of this. Hawaii will always be a very special place for me.

Lastly, I would like to extend my warmest thanks to all the hundreds and hundreds of volunteers and organizers who have worked endless hours to make Field Open in Hawaii 2008 such a great success. All the time and energy you have put into the tournament is truly appreciated and we could not have done it without you. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
